This full-day tour takes you across Lesvos, also known as Midilli, to landscapes, villages and landmarks that show the island's history and character. It lasts about eight hours, is for your own group of up to eight guests and is offered with an English-speaking or a Turkish-speaking host. You are collected from your hotel or from the port and travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with your local host.
The first stop is the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, part of a UNESCO Global Geopark. You walk through the site while your host explains the volcanic history behind trees that fossilised more than 20 million years ago. You then have free time in Sigri, a picturesque fishing village where you can stroll and take photographs.
In Plomari you walk through the harbour and visit a traditional ouzo distillery, where you see how ouzo is made and enjoy a tasting. Later you visit the Ancient Theatre in Mytilene and reach viewpoints over the city. The last stop is Petra, where the church of Panagia Glykofilousa stands on a dramatic rock formation.
The day ends with the return to your hotel or to the cruise port.
